Margaret and Josh's story is anything but ordinary. The couple first met while working a mere 40 feet from each other in Los Angeles at SpaceX, but had very limited interactions with each other during their work days. Margaret left the company to move to Washington D.C. and a week later went on an impromptu trip to Paris where she happened to stumble upon Josh in a hotel lobby. Turns out the SpaceX team was in Paris as well for meetings. That is when the city of lights bestowed its magic upon Margaret and Josh. Josh eventually moved to the east coast to be with Margaret and a year later proposed in Hawaii.
Just like Margaret & Josh’s love story, their wedding was too anything but ordinary. Margaret had always envisioned a secret garden, black-tie affair for her wedding, yet she still wanted it to exude the laid back, easy going nature of who they are as a couple. The secret garden theme was shown through all the different elements of the wedding. Guests were first hinted to the theme with the invitation suite which contained falling leaves and wax stamp of an antique key.
On the wedding day, guests could see nods to the secret garden theme everywhere with the lush floral ceremony aisle and arch, moss infused escort card display, greenery draped tent and custom painted photo wall which replicated the cover of The Secret Garden book. There was simply no detail that was missed. Even Margaret’s Oscar de la Renta wedding gown and wedding cake were adorned with delicate floral petals. It truly was a very well thought out vision by the bride.
Sadly, Margaret unexpectedly lost her father prior to the wedding day. It was important to the bride that her father, a longtime Republication political consultant, was represented on their special day. Margaret carried her father’s most cherished baseball card when she walked down the aisle. Congressman Kevin McCarthy, a close family friend who officiated the wedding, said that Margaret had chosen to walk down the aisle by herself because she wasn’t really alone as her dad was there in spirit walking right beside her. Bridesmaids carried calla lilies down the aisle as a nod to the father of the bride’s favorite book, A Wrinkle In Time.
The wedding was full of personalization and special touches to represent the fun-loving couple! Margaret started the day off by surprising Josh with a fully suited Chewbacca character to deliver the rings during the ceremony while Josh’s father made a beautiful wooden sign that was displayed at the reception showing the different cities that represented Margaret and Josh’s journey. They chose a classic quartet for ceremony and a high energy live band for reception. It perfectly complimented the couples personality; organized and calm yet enthusiastic and all smiles!
As the saying goes, “We will always have Paris.” And now, Josh and Margaret will have forever.
